Engineering College Checkup:IIT/NIT

Engineering is the most demanded Stream nowadays.Even the medical students are opting for Engineering instead of medical stream due to short learning period and higher package placements.
College matters a lot in Engineering.Better the college,Better you are trained and better you get the placement.Both the students,one from IIT/NIT and one from a State college are called Engineers,but you can easily differentiate between the two.e.g.Maruti Alto and Mercedes E Class,both comes under the category CAR but you can always differentiate between the two.But,don’t get misguided by the differentiation above.If a student from a state college wish to go ahead and has determination,he can come in the queue of IITians and NITians.
I am going to tell you about IITs and NITs .
After the Results and before counseling of AIEEE/IITJEE,students are in confused state.Which college is Better?Where to go?Take the Home NIT/IIT?What to do?
First of all,Don’t rely on the Ratings of Colleges by India-Today,Outlook or Business Today..They all present a wrong picture of Colleges..Infact,BITS-Pilani has stamped a case on IndiaToday AC-Nielson College Rating last year.Hence it didn’t took part this year.
First of all,About IITs !
Indian Institute of Technology are the Supreme of Indian Education.There are 7 IITs in all while 3 new IITs are in the Pipeline whereas BHU has been given the tag of IIT
All the present IITs except IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati are Funded by other Countries.E.g. IIT-Bombay is funded by UK etc..
IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati are Indian Funded.Hence these Two IIT come after all the other 5 IITs but there is no major difference in their quality of Education.All the other 5 IITs compete among themselves to come at the top.IIT Kharagpur and IIT Kanpur are the king in the field of Research.IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay are better in infrastructures.
Talking about NITs.
The decision to establish NITs was prompted by the following:
1.To establish a second tier of institutes to provide quality education to a large number of students.
2.To pacify every state demanding an IIT.
3.To have a low-cost alternative to IITs

I prefer that you don’t take NIT Srinagar,NIT Patna,NIT Silchar and NIT Agartala until and unless you live nearby and want to be near home.All the other NITs more or less are same while NIT-Surathkal,NIT warangal,NIT Trichy,NIT Calicut and NIT Allahabad playing the Lead Role..Then NIT Jaipur,NIT Jalandhar,NIT Kurukshetra,NIT Surat,NIT Bhopal,NIT Nagpur,NIT Durgapur ,NIT Rourkela comes in the second slot while NIT Jamshedpur ,NIT Raipur NIT Hamirpur at the Third.
Though NITs have been made to cater the need of IITs,NITs come after IITs..But now government of India is giving more time to NITs.
Till now,only IITs were the only Engineering Colleges that were INI(Institute of National Importance) but now after NIT act 2007,all NITs come under INI.This means they will get the same amount of Fun as received by IITs.Definately this will increase their productivity..
